Hard Drives Powering Down

Hi, I have two IBM hard drives. Wehn I Shut Down, there are two clicks, I guess one for each drive. Is this normal? There are no clicks during operation. I ma using Win me.

It is for me. My 75GXPs click on boot, and click on shutdown. Have for nearly a year. The 60GXPs I installed for a friend do the same. The think it's the heads setting themselves.
 
Man, that's ok then. I have one 75GXP and one 60GXP. Have already experienced bad sectors, but the low level format seemed to solve it.
 
You probably have heard horror stories about these series of IBM HDD. If you have not done so yet, install HDD coolers before you become a part of the stories. These HDD's runs hot and have a tendency to commit suicide it not properly cooled. Even cheap coolers will do.
 
Weird enough

my old 34GXP clicks on the Promise controller, 60 and 75GXP no click.
however the 34GXP does NOT click on the on board VIA controller.

weird.
