Hard Drives making noise

I would say there is a fair chance. how old is it? what is "it"?
I would back up if I were you. wouldn't hurt to do that either way
 
As drum says - backup, but add - IMMEDIATELY. Acronis True Image = A1 cloning sw.

Anyway - you might also want to dl the yoot from the hdd manufacturer's website-
For instance,
Maxtor have a yoot called MAXBLAST - you can use this on any drive as long as there is a Maxtor in the system.
