I have a 40gb Maxtor. Jumpers set as a slave drive. Has been working fine for months. Yesterday I was not able to access drive I got a message "w:\is not accessible perameter is incorrect" When I right click properties pie chart shows drive full with 0kb. Any ideas on how to recover from this ????

Try Partition Magic (www.powerquest.com)

I'm guessing you are out of luck though. There are data recovery services if you need to try to salvage the data.

If you don't care about the data, I would recommend running the WD diag tools - you can get them off their website. If that checks out, do a full reformat of the drive. The diag tools should be able to do that for you.

I was afraid of that. I have data I don't need to loose, I should have backed up more thoroughly. Thanks for the feedback.

A virus might do something like that.

Norton disk doctor may be able to check for errors and fix it.

This link is in this forum, and they have a couple of suggestions. The R-studio suggestion has come up before, though I've never used it.
