i was gone for the weekend and left my computer on.. when i got back the computer had rebooted itself and was waiting for bios password before it could continue.. i tried to boot up and it said disk error... i took the hard drive out and let it cool down a bit because it seemed how, then plugged it back in and it would boot up... but i wasnt able to open any programs? i know the hard drive is dead/going to die.. but is there anyway so that i can just copy some files over to my other drives before its completely dead? it boots up but i cant open windows explorer or anything

thanks

any specific way? put it in ziplock bag first or anything like that? how long should i leave it in freezer? will doing this make any noticieable changes to the hard drive that would void the warranty?

thanks

I've only done this once, but I got my data off after about 45 min in the freezer. I did use a ziplock, It was a western digital and RMA was no problem(This was about 2 1/2 years ago)
