:(

I just put together a computer system. Harddrive( master primary) and crwriter (secondary master). Everything went well. I have an older harddrive I would like to take some files from and install onto the new computer hard drive. However, when I slave the old drive on the primary ide cable and start the computer it wants to load all the old drivers. This is a problem. How do I stop this and make myself able to copy select files over to the new system?
Any help appreciated
Thanks in advance

New hard drive has windows 2000 professional. The old drive which I would like to take some files of has windows millanium ME. When I start up the computer a bunch of drivers are loaded and the older drive is drive c and millanium loades up. Eventhough I have the primary ide cable setup with the new hd with windows 2000 pro.
any help appreciated::eek:

In your BIOS you should be able to set your drive boot order. If your new drive is a master and it's not booting, most likely the BIOS has the drive boot order to look at the old drive first. (It's weird but it can happen. Happened on mine)
Otherwise just chuck it on the secondary channel. :)

Update I have copied using norton ghost all the files of the first partion on the old drive onto my new drive. I then installed win 2000 pro. Everything seemed to work out alright until I try to run some of the applications. The windows installer starts and asks for the office 2000 cd. However the programs are already on the drives because I can access them through the program files.:(

you're gonna have to re-install all of them. you can't just copy program files over and expect them to run in a new install.
