A friend of mine is having some problems with one of his Maxtor drives. He have one 6 gig partition and one 30 gig on the same drive, but for some weird reason XP suddenly is unable to recognize the 30gig partition (it said the partition needs to be formatted), while the 6 gig partition on the same drive is working fine. He had some important data in that partition and need to recover it before formatting it.
I had a similar experience with a old drive but I was able to use dos to back up the files, but he cant get dos to recognize the partition. I suggested using disk doctor, but I was wondering if there is another method to go about recovering a large amount of data?
This is his secondary drive, so he can still boot with out any problems.
