Hard drive trouble

I installed a new 250gig(3g/s) SATA HDD in my computer previously running off a 74 g SATA raptor. But the darn drive doesnt even show up in my computer. It shows up ok in the BIOS. Also in the device manager... but no trace of it in 'my computer'. I re-installed the SATA drivers. No change. Any clues... could the drive be dead? Please help?
 
Disk Management FTW. Right-click My Computer and select "Manage...", then Disk Management.

Please search. This gets asked a lot.
 
Thanks folks. I tried to search a bit - but as usual came up with strange results... in any I was too anxious that my new drive might be DOA - but thanks all the same.
