I need to do a test on a laptop harddrive that will do a good job at finding problems. It isn't mine so i only know it wouldn't hold an os for more than a week so i repartitioned it. Need something to see if it is working now. Chkdsk in windows isn't good enough
 
Go to the site of the HD manufacturer, they offer free stand alone (don't need working OS, they're bootable) HD diag proggies. If you don't know the HD manufacurer, d/l aida32 LINK and it'll tell you.
