Hard drive temps?

How reasonable is that?

Because it looks like that's what has happened to mine. I figured 43C was fine.

Or maybe this one just had it coming?

edit: while you're looking, it spins up, click-seeks 9 times, and then spins down.

Freezer time.

edit2: freezer no go. Plugged info into Seagate's site, and it's still covered under warranty until midway through 2010! Win.

no, 43C temps will NOT kill a hard drive

maybe temps upward of 55C...(still doubtful)

i've even read or heard somewhere that temps have no effect on the lifespan of a hard drive.

Hmm it's commonly assumed high temps aren't good for HD's, but 43c isn't exactly high. On the other hand, mine run at 30-33c all the time, which is a fair bit cooler.
