I have 120gb of MP3s and I was copying them from a full 120gb WD1200JB to a new WD2000JB. About 1/3 of the way through, the copying stopped and the computer locked up. I rebooted (with the reset button) and now the drive isn't recognized by the BIOS. Other drives connected to that cable are fine. I'm thinking it's not the data or the platters since it just doesn't show up. Does anyone know:

1) if there's anything I personally can do to fix it

2) if there's a company that can take my drive, take the platters out, and put them in another drive (I know this would be expensive, but I'd be willing to pay alot to have this fixed)

Thanks for any and all advice.

I can't help much but remember: If you've disconnected any other drives while troubleshooting, a WD drive must be set to "single" to operate or the BIOS will not see it.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it didn't work, the drive isn't even spinning up (I just realized.) I have emailed DriveSavers but I think what I really need is just to have some electrical part repaired. I don't know of any way to do that. :/

will it get recognized if you boot up from a boot disk? If so, go to WD's website and d/l the hard drive diagnostic software (most HD manufacturer's have them specific for their product) and it will tell you whats up.
