Hard drive spin down, or not?

I am having a small problem wth a hard drive in my little web server. I run a old 166 with about 90GB of HD space as a family web/print/file server. Running windows 2000 server. Ya ya I know, but for what this box does it runs great.

The issue I am having is that one of my drives is either on its last leg or just does not like to spin back up after spinning down.

My question is does anyone have any information or input about allowing a hard drive to spin down and any extended life by allowing it to spin down. I have always set my drives to spin down when not in use, but now I have been forced to keep these 3 drives running in my server to address the issue with the one drive. I think the warrenty is up and i'm due for a new drive, but that will have to wait until after x-mas.

Thanks for any input,
Kyle

well, I never have set drives spin down, I think it's a waste of time to keep making it turn off and then on, but in my eyes, either setting could be making your hdd die faster. 90gb hdd?!
