Hard-drive space issue after Windows 7 install

Ok so I went from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7. When I installed the OS I chose "Custom Install" and it did inform me that it would put all my old vista files in a seperate folder but wouldn't be able to use them after the install. I just want to know if that folder is safe to erase because it takes up a lot of space on my hard drive. I'm also noticing some of my old games will still run even though I never re-installed them and they don't show up as "installed software" don't know how thats possible any ideas? I appriciate any help 🙂

That is very common with Games. You can simply Copy/Paste your Steam Directory, for eg,(if you use Steam)and practically every Game will work fine.

That Windows.OLD folder is completely safe to delete. What they meant by the fact that none of the stuff would run is that none of it is attached to the registry or OS in any way. It's just a folder with a bunch of files.

You can do anything you want with that folder. Some programs are pseudo-portable ie. they can run without actually being "installed". That's what you're experiencing.
