Here lately.. I keep hearing a sound that I believe is coming from my hard-drive.

Like.. When I hear the hard-drive start spinning or whatever to maybe load up windows, or a program.. after it gets through loading.. it makes this clicking sound.. it doesn't do it too often, but it is really annoying.

What could this be? And should I try to explain this sound better?

Edit:

Now everytime I close a program, or open the program.. it makes the little click suond. :(

What hard drive do you have? I have a western digital wd1000bb and it sometimes clicks twice, as if it shuts off and back on. the computer I built for my uncle also has a WD drive and does the same thing. We also have antec power supplies as well - not sure if that may have something to do with it or not....

Sounds like the dreaded click of death. Back up NOW and run the HD test program from your HD manufacturer. Any problems are usually shown there.

Sometimes my SCSI drives do this when they turn on. But only when they turn on, and only sometimes.

My maxtor makes a small clicking noise every once in awhile when it's under heavy load...but it's been doing this for almost a year so i'm pretty sure its ok :)
