Hard drive SMART command failed error

Hello,

I have a Seagate 600 SSD 240GB that when I boot the computer, it says that the SSD is S.M.A.R.T. capable but command failed. I read that if it fails SMART it is likely the SSD is about to die.

I ran Windows check disk and it passed.
I ran Seagate SeaTools and the SMART test passed. I ran a long generic check that scans the entired drive and it passed.
I ran Spinrite Level 2 and it passed also.

But yet it still gives me that error message everytime I boot the computer.
So I'm confused.

Is the SSD dying or not?
What else can I test it with?
How do I fix the error other than to disable the SMART check?

Thanks

Good range of tests you ran. I would just disable the check unless you are actually seeing issues.

You might try a dif cable or moving it to a dif sata port, otherwise, like Ketchup said, disable it.

Yeah let me try a different cable and Sata slot.

As for spinrite, you can run level 2 on a SSD. Level 4 is not a good idea
