Hard drive size limitations...

So

Lifer
Any idea what the largest size hard drive an old Abit BP6 (440BX chipset) will support? I'm getting ready to install linux on it and I either have an ancient 10.2gig drive or a relatively new 250gig drive.

That depends on the BIOS.

The older limit points were 32 GB and 137 GB so it could be either of those or it could be recent enough for LBA48 support.

Don't forget the ATA mode as well. My p3bf only supported ATA/66 IIRC. A pci controller card gets around both of these issues.

Oh, my first computer was a 286. Doesn't make me an old geek, but not the new geeks. 😛

Also, I don't care about speed. IIRC the new standards are backwards compatible, so it's no biggie.
