I built a new XP Pro machine, but when I plug in my extra HD it gets recogined in bios, shows correctly in Windows device manager, but I don't get a drive letter. What can I do? I checked Master/slave settings, etc... but now I have no clue... This HD was working perfectly on my Windows 2000 machine (whose C: drive I just formatted, so I cannot test the HD again easily)

Thanks in advance...!!!

Go to Computer Management>Disk Management. Quickest way it to right-click My Computer>Manage. Right-click the drive and select "Change drive letter and paths"

Thanks a lot, guys!!

When I opened Disk Management, the drive was marked as "foreigner." There was an option to "import" it, which made the drive visible. All files are okay.

Thanks again. AT sure beats trial & error!
