Hard drive setup....

My case is simple stupid, but what is the best way of setting my PC up?

I have one 320gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 drive. On my last computer with a 60gb drive, all I did was partition one for the OS and one for my data (docs, vids, music, photos, etc), basically C: and D:. I plan on adding a removable drive unit just for backups.

Are you asking how to setup the hardware, like where at in the case? Or are you asking how to setup your hard drive, as in partitions, etc.?

sorry........partition

Really, is partitioning fine in peoples eyes or do a multi drive setup? That is my real question I guess.

It is a purely personal choice. There are no disadvantages to it, and it is basically done just for organizational purposes now. Gone are the days when it was more efficient to partition the hard drive in 2gb partitions, although seperating OS & data does allow for a easier reformat. But basically, it's up to you. Given that the drive is a data only drive, it really doesn't matter one way or another.
