sorry if this isnt the right forum, not sure where to post it.

my question is this: Is there a way to make 1 or 2 directorys on your hard drive password protected, i know you can hide them but i would also like some other measure of security.

The Win9x kernel is pretty bad in terms of data security. With W2K you have more latitude to set permissions depending on the user. Your best bet would be third party software.

In Win2K you can right click on the folder, pick the sercuity tab and set permissions for certain users on your system/network. I'm not sure if you can password it or not though.

If your really into performance on your workstation, I would seriously suggestion a new OS. You can't go wrong with Win2K Pro. I don't know much about XP, but 2K is almost perfect (well, as perfect as an MS OS can get I guess).

Yeah, there is. It involves File 13.

Third Party software is your only real option.
