Hard Drive Security on win2k?

Hi all,

I recently gave my old computer to my dad so that he can have an upgrade. He wanted to switch his hard drive over to the new comp, but it gives an error when win2k is booting up (I believe it is a "stop" error or something). When he puts it back in the old comp, everything is fine. Is this some kind of win2k security where you can't swap hard drives to a new comp? Is there some way to disable it?

THanks.

this is due to win2k finding all the new motherboard components and such, best bet is to format and reinstall... if you search the forum you can probably find some registry stuff to delete and it may or may not fix it.

Boot up in safe mode, go into device manager, delete all your devices and have win2k reinstall them. That should do it.
