$285? Man, I'd look into some of the data recovery stuff you can do yourself before you resort to that. Putting the drive in the freezer for an hour or two and then trying it can sometimes get it to work for a while if its a mechanical problem. Otherwise there are programs that you can use to try and get back data, though they are kinda difficult to use and I never learned them myself. Nor do I remember their names.

The web page implies they'll do mechanical repairs to drives for $500 or less. Depending on what's wrong, that could be a very good price if they actually do it.

To answer the OP's question, no, I haven't heard of them. But I'm not familiar with that many data recovery firms, so that doesn't mean much.

That should be in the Hot Deals thread. The last time I sent a drive out to be recovered, it cost us over $1800.
