I have two hard drives on my old computer. HD1 has Windows 95, and is my main boot drive, and HD2 has Win2K on it. If I were to disconnect HD2, and reformat HD1, then Install Win2K on HD1, would I be able to just plug HD2 in and view it normally?

S/b easy to check. Pull out HD1 and put HD2 as primary master. Make sure the BIOS is aut detecting the new drive and then let it try to startup. If it succesfully boots into Windows 2000 and everything runs okay, then you should be alright to reformat the other drive and ready it for Windows 2000 data. If it doesn't boot or you don't have all the drivers for everything on that disk, then you will run into problems and will need to work on getting HD2 ready to run your system completely.

i believe no

the boot for your hd2 was located on hd1 along with the boot for win 95

you would have to replace the boot for hd2 on hd1 if you want hd2 to be working as an os

you could just view some of the contents of hd2 if you just plug it in but anything related to the os on hd2 would be only seen by the os of hd2

All i want to do is have access from the files on HD2, not boot from it.

i did something similar

i have hd1 w/winme which i booted from, i got a new hd2 and put winme on it to boot from and i switched hd 1 into my 2nd channel

after booting from hd 2, i could still access hd1 and all the data on it
