Hard Drive recovery

Last night, I reformatted my primary hard drive to reinstal Windows XP Pro. New Motherboard, new chip, new ram, new video card, new case. But the same hard drives.

I did NOT reformat the old hard drive and copied all of my and my families' old docs onto the secondary one (Maxtor 120 GB), wanting to retrieve them later.

Now, when I try to open the second drive, it asks me if I want to reformat, which I don't want to do.

Any ideas on how to retrieve that data?

Thanks.

It sounds like the 2nd HD is corrupted, the Volume info might have been damage. Have you try unplugging the IDE cable and plugging it back in a few times? It might be loose. If it's corrupted, use this program GetDataBack. It will let you recover most of your files.
