I currently have a "Samsung HD501LJ 500gb SATA2 16mb cache" hardrive in my system and thinking about RAID0 setup with another 500gb.

But the problem is, do u need to have another identical drive for RAID0 or not?

ALso, what kind of performance boosts can i expect

no need for identical drive

you would only be getting a perf boost on reads, writes would be just as slow...
