Hard Drive Question...

First some facts?I use my computer for PhotoShop (with 60+MB tiffs) almost 90% of the time. I have an Adaptec 29160 and 1.5GB of RAM. Also, I already have a Seagate 36GB 10K drive and I will be purchasing another 18GB or 36GB 15K Seagate.

My question is?do I use the faster drive for data or the operating system?

My theory is?use the faster drive for the data, as I will be pulling large files up all the time. Also, with 1.5GB of RAM after PhotoShop loads it shouldn?t need to access the OS drive (at least not much).

Please offer your opinion and explain why.

Thanks

If you are going to be using large files, I would guess that the faster drive should be used for data. You said you have an Adaptec 29160 card, are you planning on running the drives in a RAID array or not?

No RAID...I like to keep all my data on one drive so that I can reload my OS and not worry about my data.

I would go with the faster drive for data as well. That is the drive that you will be using the most from your applications to edit and move around data.
