Get this drive instead...price is very similar to the 500GB you posted originally.

I have this drive, and it's much faster than my other SATA drive. Read speeds on the WD6400AAKS are SUPERIOR to those recorded by my friend's 10,000 RPM Raptor 150! This is because the 640 is a 2 platter drive with extremely high platter density.

Oh, it would be quite a bit faster than the 160GB you listed. Not only does it have a higher 320GB/platter density, but it also has a 16MB buffer vs. the 8 MB buffer in the Hitachi.

For a noticeable improvement in performance and FOUR times the capacity, I'd say the WD6400 is worth an extra 21 pounds; wouldn't you?

Yes, I already have the 160gb hard drive :). How could I format the original hard drive and put the os on the new harddrive, as im going to run them both, with the 160gb one being just for music and movies.

You could clone the 160GB onto the 640GB with something like Acronis True Image, boot up with it, let Windows do its detection thing, and then format the 160GB.
