Does my SATA HDD have to enable SATA3.0 to make full use of the bandwidth?

Is the HDD defaulted to run at 1.5Gb/s or at 3.0Gb/s?
If it needs to be enabled, how do I do this?

depends onthe hd... from your sig you ahve same one as me.. it defaults to 3.0 and you need a jumper to slap it back to 1.5 (which is what i have to do becuase of my motherboard)

take off all jumpers and you are running in 3.0
