I plan on mirroring them with RAID 1, will that make any difference about which one I should choose?

which HDDs are you mirroring and looking into buying? I have a Seagate 7200.9 SATA 3.0 GBS and man its quick, quiet and fast. plus a 5 yr warranty. Got it because my WD HDD crashed out of the blue. now i want to run raid 1. anywho, 3.0 GBS does make a lot of sense, especially if it has a larger cache 16? than the 1.5 GBS HDD.

Well, it's up to you, but keep in mind that even though you buy the SATA2 hard drive your transfer rates are still going to be decided by the mechanical portions of the drive, which will never change. If one has a larger cache, then it is safe to assume it will perform better in the burst rate arena. However, the STR will still rely on the mechanical parts, which are very slow compared to the bus speeds which seem to be ever increasing, without any innovation in the mechanical arena, except for denser platters...

Well that WD has the same specs as the Seagate 7200.9 except the seagate is only 160 GIGs. My WD drive just failed but I'm not gonna stop that from me reccomending it to you. its 20 more gigs, might as well get it. I don't know anything about that WD HDD though. Read some reviews on it.

The 250GB version of that same Seagate drive costs less. link

I would definately recommend this hard drive. Its not the fastest but it is definately fast and quiet and an unbeatable price. 5 year warranty makes it a great deal.
