Hi.
I have 2 Dell 120 GB ATA100 (WD JB OEM's) on the way and I have a WD 60 GB 5400 RPM drive. I'm only going to keep 2 of the drives and I don't know which I should keep.
For now, I plan on running one drive for my OS/programs and the other as storage. I had thought about RAIDing the 120 gb drives, but I have decided against that at this point. Maybe when 120 gb drives are about what 30 gb drives currently are. I just feel like it's a waste to RAID two of these drives when I won't trust storing anything on them in RAID 0 mode.
My question is, will I run into heat problems if I run 2 120 GB ATA 100 drives right now? I know the 60 gb 5400 rpm will run cooler and quieter, I just don't know what I should go with.
The 2 7200 rpm drives would fit into my future plans even though the 60 gb drive as backup would probably work better in my current situation.
What would you do if you were in my situation?
Thanks again.
Sal
