i have been asked by a colleauge if there is an app. or a way to wipe a hard drive
making it like "new" from the factory. end results being a non-formatted drive with nothing on it?

if you norton system works you can use wipe to wipe the drive clean, the just delete all the partions. unless you are wanting to low-level the drive, this is not recomended though, you can do a low-level format of the drive with a utility from the manufacturer, they will probably try to talk you out of it.

you only need to wipe a drive if you had sensitive data on the drive that you don't want someone to be able to retrieve using file restore apps, if you are going to use the drive again, you just need to delete the partitions.

norton wipe worked nicely. drive is going outside the company, so had to nuke all the data.
thanks for the tip on norton
