Anyone ever installed a new hard drive? A master, not a slave?

Well I've just got my new PC and am trying to install the HDD and I've a few problems. All the guides on the net say: Make sure the red cable of your ribbon cable is aligned with Pin 1 on your HDD.

Found the red cable, easy but which 'end' of the HDD is pin 1? It's not clearly marked. This is driving me nuts,.

<< Face it towards the molex power connector. >>

I know so little. Generally I can tell if someone is joking. But...are you serious? Where's the molex power connector?

I ask cause it sounds like the Flux capacitor from Back to the future.

My HDD is orientated such that, looking into the case from the 'bottom-->up' it goes:

PINS -->Weird Socket---> Power Socket.

Is that weird socket the molex one?

Good luck man. I know I was nervous the first time I booted up my self made pc. I was hoping for the best, with all fingers crossed.

Floppy cable is opposite than HDD, correcto?
I believe so, HDD IDE cable red points towards Power, Floppy points away....

I thought most drives and cables could only be put on one way these days.
