Hard drive problems

Recently one of my hard drives died (western digital... i know 🙁 ) and ever since I unplugged it, windows refuses to start whenever I have any of my 2 other extras plugged in. I can only use my regular drive, with windows on it, or windows doesn't boot. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "Windows doesn't boot"? Is the BIOS telling you that "Operating System not found"? If so, check the boot order in the bios.

the bios works fine, i see the windows boot screen, but then it never passes the "windows xp" screen with the blue loading bar

I don't know if I should congratulate you or what but your Hard drive does sounds dead. If you can even see the Windows Boot Screen, it shows that your drive is still alive.

I think it might have something to do with the operating system or the softwares you installed on your computer that causes it not to enter Windows.

When you run out of ideas, backup your stuffs and format and reinstall.

I dunno if i'm being completely clear about this sitation.

I have four hard drives, a WD 74.4 gb raptor, a WD 500gb, a seagate 160 and an IBM 80gb. The IBM is the only drive on the IDE channel. Windows is on the raptor which works fine, it's the 500gb that is dead / dieing. Once I unplugged the 500gb drive, windows refuses to start whenever the IBM 80gb is plugged in. That's where my issue lies. Why does my computer suddenly refuse to start with an IDE hard drive in use? I have an IDE dvd burner installed and functioning fine...?
