hard drive problem?

My mobo got fried weeks ago and i finally got the replacement back from where i bought it, i hooked everything up, windows booted, and it started to load the drivers for the video card and stuff, restart the computer and it wouldn't boot back into windows, its been off for almost a month so i decide best thing to just start from scratch. I reformat the hard drive everything goes fine. i start to reinstall windows 98 se and i get some error message about setupx.exe not working, i restart and try installing again and i get a different error message, i keep getting these errors right after the setup wizard finishes loading, i've tried other win98 disks but same result, i was thinking that maybe somethings wrong with the hd but i have no idea, any help would be great, thanks
 
Ok whats your dip switches set to? if you have 'em at 133 set them back to 100 for now . Disable the raid (jumper's right behind pci slot #2) . If you haven't done so allready fdisk the hdd again and start from scratch. Oh btw your sig says you OCed , did you reset all the changes before doing this ?
 
its a new chip and a new mb so everything was from scratch and not oced, anyone i'll try what you said, thanks for the quick help
 
Hey don't feel bad i fired mine up yesterday only to find it running at 55c lol. now im stuck waiting for a new HSF !
 
i'm looking at an online manual and i see where it should be, but its not on the board, right to the left of the agp slot and a little higher, theres a little message on the board for the jumper, but no jumper, i must be an idiot, but theres nothing there
