Hard Drive problem

I have just formatted and done a fresh install of Windows on my main 120gb SATA drive. When I load up everything boots up fine and very quickly on the windows loading screen.
Though, when I connect my IDE Western Digital 80gb drive it takes very long to load up whilst on the Windows booting screen, about 40 seconds to a minute. The drive has data on it that was backed up before I formatted and before was just used as a storage drive.
I have not installed the IDE drivers for my motherboard because it has conflicts with SATA drives. My motherboard is DFI Lanparty UT 250gb nforce3.

Any ideas whats going wrong?

Thanks

You might run the WD diags on your drive to make sure there's nothing wrong with it. It's been my experience that drives with problems can cause slow boot ups/no boot, even if they're not the OS drive. If there are no problems found, you could get an IDE adapter card to attach the storage drive to your system.
