hard drive in so's notebook computer caused blue screens. windows could not start (blue screen on boot) so i did a dirty install of windows (so as to recover the files). but windows installer would blue screen. so i put it in a usb enclosure and plugged it into my computer. as soon as the computer detected it, the computer would blue screen. eventually i tried using knoppix, which saw the hard drive and could read it fine. after using dos (is hoss) and fdisk to kill the partitions, the computer installed windows just fine. any clue what was going on?
