I have a new hard drive that when initially formatted it, I didn't realize it at the time but I guess it formatted it showing -0- room available. I have not been able to get the drive to be recognized by the system since. it is a PATA drive and I have tried moving the master/slave switch around to no avail.

Is there something I can try to get this erased and re-formatted?

RMA it if possible. If not, see what hiran's boot cd and the ultimate boot cd have to offer.

Normally, the drive manufacturer's website should have freely downloadable diagnostic software that will allow you to test the drive.
