back in the day you had to partition due to performance, is this still the case? my 80 gb drive has partitions of 20 gb's. on a 250 gb hard drive, how many partitions of what size are good?

edit- i just got to the partitioning screen in the dos windows xp setup.. and wtf? it says i only have 130gb available

Partioning now awadays isn't really necessary in terms of speed, but I still do it for simple convience. I have a 20gig partion for the operating system and all applications and whatnot. And the rest is for games and documents and install files. If you partion it this way it will be alot easier to reinstall your operating system, since you will only have to reformat the mini 20gig partion and you wont lose all your document/installer files!!
