Hard drive options for laptop

I'm configuring a Thinkpad X61 and they give the option of upgrading from a 80GB SATA 5,400 rpm drive to a 100GB SATA 7200 rpm drive for an extra $50. I was wondering:

1. [Less important] Is there any discernible difference in speed with a faster HDD. I'll be using this laptop for basic web browsing/office/occasional coding on Vista Business. Not into gaming.

2. [More important] Any idea if a 7200rpm drive drains the battery faster?

Thanks!

i doubt you'd feel much of a difference in speed. the faster hard drive does require a bit more power though. however, do you think you'll need the extra storage?
