Go in to your BIOS, make sure the second drive is being detected. If it is, try using administrative tools to recognize it (Disk management ought to have something).

Emmm... that's not good. My first thought is hard drive problems (like, hardware-wise). Try unplugging and plugging back in the IDE cable. Both on the HD and on the mobo itself. And maybe switch power connectors. If it continues, you might try testing the HD in another machine.

man.. this sux.. i tried everything.. now it'll show up in the bios.. but when its on "auto" it'll take awhile for my computer to boot up.. take a while to get to the loading window xp screen.. before that.. it just a black screen.. at first i thought it froze.. but i waited a while.. it shows the window 2000 loading bar (with out the window 2000 words) and after that finally the loading window xp screen shows up.. but when i have the setting in bios set to "none", it load window xp normaly.. man.. this really sux.. now my computer is all mess up.. i tried go to safe mode.. wont show up either.. and i finally load the last working setting.. now it doesnt have any of my driver.. graphic card is all mess up.. the jumper setting should be correct cuz i didnt change any... i did unplug and replug.. why does it do that? shows up in bios.. but cant see it in window.. i think i also made the drive "dynamic" does that do anything..

okay.. its now 4:23 in the morning... i tried everything.. now it shows up in bios everytime.. its also now under device manager... and it also shows up in disk management.. but i can not even view its property it says "unreadable" is my HD dead? i went in to fdisk.. under types it says "non-dos" i am not too sure if thats suppose to be normal? i thought it should be "NTFS"? and the usage says 100% also when i check out the properties under the system device.. under "volumes" is says disk: disk 1. type: dynamic. status: unreadable. partition style: Master Boot Record(MBR). capacity: 0mb. unallocated space 0mb. reserved space 0 mb. please tell me everyone on that HD is not gone... can i still back up the datas that are on there? i check the jumpers and play around with them.. still doesnt work.. donno what to do... why... :( if i change my disk 0 my main drive (c) and drive (d) to dynamic.. would it work? the drive that is not showing up is the drive (e)

i think the reason it's dynamic is cuz i converted it awhile back.. i did some reading.. it could be the dynamic disk problem.. i tried to dl SP1.. but my xp product key wont let me install it.. (microsoft says the sp1 might be able to fix the problem) i also come across to "file scavenger" it suppose to let me recovery my files.. however i couldnt figure out how to use it.. its now 6:00 am.. i'm tired.. someone out there must know something.. plz help me~

Rule# 1: get rid of your pirated copy of XP Pro (most likely corp with the serial that starts with FCKGW)
Rule# 2: buy a legal copy of Windows XP Pro oem for 140.00 or pick up a NFR at a Microsoft seminar

Run MaxBlast and let it analyze this hdd. If the boot sector is corrupted MaxBlast may fix it for you.
