Hard Drive not detected during MCE 2005 setup...

When I boot from the first of 2 CDs to setup XP Media Center Edition 2005, it says no hard drives are detected, and forces the setup process to end. I ran the diagnostic thingy from BIOS for the hard drive which reported no faults, and of course the hard drive seems to be working perfectly since I can still boot from the hard disk and do everything I usually do.

I then thought I'd try booting from my XP Home Edition CD, which DOES detect the hard drive. I'm very confused. Any ideas what may be causing this?

are you running them as a raid array? If so then you will need to have the driver disk handy and press F6 when you get the "inspecting your hardware" prompt then in a little bit it will ask you for the driver to install, put in the disk, and off you will go. My guess is that it is a newer SATA controller that MCE doesn't like.

Is the Dell on the HW Compat list?
