I recently purchased a Seagate 160 GB Hard Drive and installed it in my USB Bytecc External Enclosure. I formatted the drive as NTFS with the Seagate Utility CD. The utility shows me that I've formatted the whole drive (160 GB). However, whenever I use the drive on my Windows XP laptop and my Windows 2000 PC, the hard drive shows up as 149 GB. Is it just me or should I be seeing the drive as 160 GB? Why won't the additional 11 GB appear?
My Windows XP Laptop has SP1 and SP2 installed. My windows 2000 PC has SP 4 installed. My PC can recognize a 120 GB hard drive that is currently in there as 120 GB. The problem could be with my external enclosure, but it supports up to 300 GB and there is no support available on the Bytecc website. I've used Window's Administrative Tools and the hard drive still shows up as 149 GB and no additional partitions.
What can I do to have my hard drive show up as 160 GB? Or, is there no solution?
