hard drive not being recognized correctly

I just installed two 160 GB Maxtor hard drives. I installed XP Pro on one and left the slave to be my storage drive. When I checked in Windows Explorer, though, it was only showing the boot drive. I checked in the Device Manager and both drives were there. So per Maxtor's troubleshooting tips, I used the Maxtor software disc that came with my drive to boot up. I went through the installation set up and when I got into Windows, the second drive did show up, but only as a 137 GB drive. The boot drive shows up as a 160 GB, so I don't understand why the discrepancy. How can I make it recognize the full capacity of *both* drives?

Yes, I have SP1 installed. Not sure if this is what you mean by the first question, but I have both drives on the same IDE cable which is connected directly to the mobo. Any ideas?

hmmmmmm dosen't make sense if they're both connected to the controller that one wouldn't be seen as 160gb. Try this: Go to Start/ Control Panel/ Adminstrative Tools/ Computer Management. Then select "Disk Management" in the window. Should bring up the statuses of all your Hard Drives. Look for something labelled unpartitioned or unallocated space. That may be where your missing space is. If you find unallocated or unpartitioned space, format it into the NTFS file system and you're good to go.

Thanks, man. That totally did the trick.
