Hard drive noise, need help

I'm testing a Quantum Atlus IV 9GB U160 that supposedly creates a lot of noise to the point of sounding like it'll mechanically fail, but I haven't been able to reproduce the noise. What can I do in terms of testing it? Already installed Win2K Pro on a newly formatted partition, anything else?

Do a full disk scan and look for bad sectors. Im sure there is some disk util out there, but I am not a SCSI guy so I don't think I can help you.

Oh I re-read your post.

FIll it up with lots of files. Like 80% full. Copy and paste all over the place. Then run defrag and listen for noises.
