Hard Drive Mechanic Gold software

I have a spare 40GB hard drive, I would like to put in my new PC, however I hosed the drive about 5 months ago after I connected the power cable to it while my other PC was still plugged up. All the drive does now is click and is unable to access any data on the drive. Luckily I had most of my stuff backed up so I didn't lose much.

I have read online that Hard Drive mechanic may be able to fix various hard drive problems including problems related to power surges. Its $60 online, but is it worth it?

Has anyone used it before with any success?

Thanks

I don't think spending $60 to attempt to revive a likely 40 GB dead drive is worth it.

Just buy a new one.

yeah, I agree, it's more then likley garbage now, you should turn your compter off before plugging anything it to it, besides USB and FIrewire.
