Hard Drive Keeps Dissapearing

I have 2 Seagate 80GB HDD's on IDE 0 (master & slave). The Slave one keeps on disappearing on me though. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

Edit: Sorry about the short first description, here is a move verbose explanation of the problem.

I will be using windows right along without a problem....then it will randomly lock up (have to hit reset button).
Then when I reboot the disk will not be reconized via the BIOS.
I try rebooting again, turning power on & off, ect...nothing helps
If I boot with the HDD disconnected, and then boot again with power on everything is fine again.

Any ideas?

BTW, I tried various IDE cables as well, and am running a Iwill KK266 (Via KT133a chipset) w/ the latest BIOS. I'm also running windows XP w/ the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers.

What OS are you using? Is the BIOS still "seeing" it? Are your jumpers correct? I

f your jumpers are corrrect and the BIOS doesn't see it I fear the worst...

The drives aren't clicking or scratching are they?

Also, are they overheating? What speed are they and how close together are they in your case?

No clicks, no overheating (drive is cool to the touch), drives are mounted with a empty bay between them & a 80mm fan blowing over both of them (so they're cool enough).
