This is the first computer ive built and i dont wanna screw anything up. My hard drvie jumper came set on 2CS, is that what id want to leave it on? It looks like they took the jumper off for Single or Master but im not sure. Should i leave it on 2CS or take the jumper off. BTW, its a Western Digital WD Caviar Enhanced IDE Hard Drive 80 gb. thanks

thats cable select no? ...you can always try if it works or not... my bros WDs wouldn't get recognized until we took off the jumpers completely.

Will it have a slave drive? If not, remove it. If so, put the jumper on "master".

or Single. I've seen WD HDD must use Single if it's by itself, you have a Slave device hooked up then it would be Master.

On my drive (80GB JB) single is "no jumper". I wish they'd have a universal jumper config.

It's really bad when the manufacturer misprints the jumper info on the drive (ahem, Maxtor). Had some drives at work that made me go loopy.

I have mine on CS. (two of them are a Raid-0, each on master connector and the third of them is on the secondary connector)

I think this is the only setting my Highpoint Raid controller (on-board) likes.
