hard drive issue

ok so my brother's hd is on slave, and when I try accessing it, it says it is inaccesible and that the file or directory is unreadable.

Has the hard drive been formatted? Is the jumpers settings correct? Just a few things I've come across from previous issues with hard drives. Good luck.

hadn't changed any settings since reboot. The drive had suse and winxp on it.
