whats the difference between sata and ide?? andwhich do i need for a8n-sli?

Diference is more in the cables size than in performance at the moment. You can use both. SATA has much thinner cables making it easier to keep the case clean and maybe cooler.

SATA is better because it is slightly faster and IDE is being phased out.
