Hard Drive Installation Needs

My hard drive would barely boot up; had to use a Windows 98 bootable desk. Makes noise like electricity power problem but system shows no problem.

I have a 20 Gig Western Digital selected. Have an IBM 7 Gig installed now.

Question: Is there one document that tells you everything to do like:

1. Get on the Net and download drivers to removable media.
2. How to copy critical data and define what I need to get.
3. How to actually start up the new hard drive and what software is required to initiate such as formatting, doing a clean load of Windows 98 for example.

I would really like your help guys.

Which one of the HD's are you gonna have the OS installed on?? If your gonna leave the OS on the 7 gig, and just have the 20 for extra space then, just make sure you have the jumpers set that way. If your gonna have your OS on your 20, then your gonna have to probablly format the 7 so you don't have confilicts. Thats all I can say with the info given. Just make sure you have the master jumper on the OS hd, and the slave on the extra hd.

Thanks guy. But what I think I need to do is to replace the 7 gig hard drive completely with the 20 gig drive since I think the 7 gig drive is ready to die. I have an older Dell and my drive sits vertically in the half tower. I would have to FDISK, do a fresh load of Windows 98, and load the applications on the 20 gig drive. Does this sound logical?
