Hard drive install question from newbie

I am in a work in progress on my three year old computer. I bought a new motherboard that has ATA66 compatability. I had an old ATA33 hard drive and now I have a new ATA100 hard drive.
I also have a cd burner and a CDRom (and a floppy) question is--
How do I set them up as far as master and slave. I have a primary and secondary slot to use and am currently
slaving old HD to new HD and
slaving CD burner to CDRom.
Is this the best way to go, worst way to go or what? Also, what is perferred method to hook this configuration up.

I would separate the hard drives to separate channels and then obviously, the same will be true for the 2 CD drives. I hear this is the best way to set it up for copying on the fly from CD-ROM to CD-R.

New HD --- CD-ROM ---> Primary Channel
CD-R --- Old HD ---> Secondary Channel

It really doesn't matter but some people have problems setting their CD-R as a slave...
