Hard drive in windows toolbar

After installing the drivers from my motherboard, there is now a "Safely Remove Hardware" icon for my SATA hard drive by where the volume and time are on the windows toolbar. Is this normal and how can I get rid of it?

Yes, it's normal. Some SATA controllers support hot-swap.

There's some option you can uncheck somewhere to get rid of the icon if you don't want it. Search and I'm sure you'll find it...
